Notes
The strain was originally classified as Saccharomyces cerevisiae based on traditional taxonomic characterizations, but a multigene sequence analysis identified it as Saccharomyces kudriavzevii a close relative of Saccharomyces cerevisiae [1]. Recent next-generation sequencing has shown that this strain could be a hybrid of Saccharomyces kudriavzevii and Saccharomyces cerevisiae. This taxonomic update to the strain will not affect its application in antifungal drug testing assays and many other usages. [1] Suh SO, et al.
